The Paradox
Indonesia built Gojek (modern), Tokopedia (Next.js), Traveloka (modern), Bukalapak (modern) — some of Southeast Asia's most sophisticated tech platforms. But among the 7,497 .id domains where we detected a framework, 87% run WordPress. The unicorns use .com domains and modern stacks — they're largely invisible in .id TLD data.
Two Indonesias
There's the Indonesia of unicorns — Jakarta startup ecosystem, venture-funded, modern stacks, Silicon Valley-connected. And there's the Indonesia of 270 million people — SMB websites built by freelancers using WordPress because that's what the Fiverr tutorial taught. The two don't intersect.
The 100M User Gap
Indonesia's digital banking has 100M+ users on modern infrastructure. But those users' businesses run websites on WordPress. The app layer modernized. The web layer didn't. This isn't a technology choice — it's an education and ecosystem gap.
