Turkey has the highest WordPress concentration of any country in our 128K+ page Common Crawl dataset. Not 60%, not 80% — ninety-three percent. The remaining 7% is Angular (14), Next.js (11), and scattered others.
Why This Happens
Turkey's web development ecosystem is dominated by freelance WordPress developers. The combination of accessible WordPress tutorials in Turkish, a large freelance marketplace presence, and SMB clients who ask for 'a website' (meaning WordPress by default) created a near-monoculture.
The Risk of Monoculture
When 93% of a country's web runs one framework, every WordPress vulnerability is a national infrastructure event. The 4,200+ CVEs in 2025 alone affect nearly every .tr website. It's not a technology problem — it's a systemic risk with the same characteristics as agricultural monoculture.
