BleepingComputer reported on 13 October 2026 that Microsoft has ended support for Windows 11 24H2 in its Home and Pro editions. Microsoft's notice also names Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016. October's security update is the final one. After it, those PCs get no monthly security fixes and no preview updates.
Microsoft tells users to move to Windows 11 26H2. BleepingComputer says it arrived in September 2026 as an enablement package, a form of update that Microsoft says downloads by itself and finishes with one restart. Microsoft says delivery is phased over the next few months. Only PCs with the setting to get updates as early as possible switched on are being offered it now. The sources do not say what happens when that setting is off. They also give no count of PCs still on 24H2 Home or Pro, and no upgrade route for LTSB 2016. BleepingComputer adds that 24H2 Enterprise and Education stay supported until 12 October 2027.
The support end is a calendar date, but the upgrade reaches each PC on its own schedule. Whoever owns the device carries that gap. Ask three things: how many Home or Pro 24H2 PCs do we run, who controls the update setting, and what is the fallback if the offer never arrives?
