AI assistant startup Ollie to close on November 6

CEO Bill Lennon says competition from rivals made it hard to stand out, grow and raise money.

In brief
  • Ollie, an AI assistant app that put privacy first, will close on November 6. CEO Bill Lennon said so on X.
  • Customers will get instructions for exporting their data and getting refunds. In September, the company discussed a US$7.5 million seed round.

Bill Lennon, co-founder and CEO of Ollie, said on X that the company will close on November 6. Ollie made an AI assistant that put privacy first. Tech in Asia reported the news on October 31. In September, Ollie discussed a US$7.5 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures. It described the product as a private AI helper meant for families.

The subscription app connected to a user's email and calendar. It could book appointments, plan meals and pay bills. Lennon pointed to competition from firms such as Muse and Instinct. He said it became harder to get noticed, grow and raise capital. Tech in Asia added that Ollie had achieved SOC 2 compliance. Lennon said customers will get instructions to export their data and claim refunds. The number of users, and how much seed money is left, are not yet known.

Ollie's app worked with email and calendars, and the company held SOC 2 compliance, yet it is closing. For teams that buy AI assistants, this shows that compliance status does not say whether a vendor will stay open. Buyers can ask in advance how data export and refunds work.
