Key finding

Joomla: 352,042 detections (3.5%) (Source: WebPulse Common Crawl scan, 10M+ detections. Still the #5 most-detected framework globally.)

The Reality Check

Combined still a fraction of Joomla
Astro + SvelteKit
Source: WebPulse Common Crawl scan, 10M+ detections. Two of the most-discussed modern frameworks.

Developer conferences talk about Astro and SvelteKit. Hacker News debates their merits. Framework comparison articles pit them against each other. Meanwhile, Joomla — which most developers consider dead — has many times their combined detections in our scan. At 10M scale, Joomla gained share from 2.8% to 3.5%.

Why This Matters

The web discussed at conferences isn't the web that exists in our scans. The frameworks dominating tech Twitter represent about 6% of detected sites. The frameworks nobody talks about — WordPress, Shopify, Joomla — represent 85% of what we detect. Our scanner favors legacy CMS (stronger HTML signatures), but even accounting for that bias, the gap between perception and detection is enormous.
