Tech in Asia, republishing a Business Times story, reported that YouTrip had a major outage on 19 October. YouTrip is a Singapore-based fintech firm with a multicurrency e-wallet. At noon, only four of the 19 services on its status page worked. These were login, card details, sign-up and e-SIM. The in-app exchange, wallet balance and digital wallet were marked as in major outage. In Thailand, three of 14 tracked services worked. YouTrip Australia showed every service running.
The cause has not been given, and there is no time for full recovery. YouTrip told the Business Times that its team is working on the problem and that funds and accounts are safe. On Facebook at 11:00 a.m., it warned that card payments and ATM withdrawals might be affected. By about 12:45 p.m. Singapore time, its status page changed the label to service degradation. The same services stayed unavailable. One Facebook user said a transfer made two hours earlier still showed as pending. He also said his card payment failed. The report does not say how many users were affected.
For teams that build on or buy payment services, this shows that a status label can soften while the same services stay down. Checking what actually works tells you more than the label.
