Vercel said on 23 October that Moonshot AI's Kimi K3.1 Pro can now be used through its AI Gateway. A faster variant, Kimi K3.1 Pro Highspeed, is meant for interactive use. Vercel says this opens Moonshot's K3.1 line. It improves on Kimi K3 in coding, 3D modeling, financial analysis and multi-step agent tasks. On hard prompts, Vercel says, it gets facts wrong less often than older Kimi models. Image input and the 1M-token context, room for very long documents, carry over.
Vercel said Moonshot AI intends to publish the model weights, the trained numbers that make up a model, by November 4. Support from more providers will follow. Vercel's notice gives no price for either model, no test scores and no speed figure for Highspeed. It does not say what terms will cover the weights.
The gateway is one API between an app and many model makers. Vercel says it tracks usage and cost and handles retries and failover. Trying a model means changing one name, such as moonshotai/kimi-k3.1-pro. Vercel says it adds no markup or platform fee, even when customers bring their own key (BYOK). So the open items matter: ask for price, results on your own tasks, and the weight terms.
