The Decoder reported on 4 October that President Donald Trump has announced a "Super Intelligence Force" (SIF). The unit will handle outreach to consumers, interest groups, religious organisations, critical infrastructure operators and AI companies. Intelligence director Jay Clayton will help lead it, along with FTC chair Andrew Ferguson, Emil Michael, Scott Kupor and other officials. Michael is undersecretary for research; Kupor is CTO. It reports to the president and chief of staff Susie Wiles.
The Decoder says this follows a recent White House meeting of tech CEOs. It reports they signed a "morally binding" contract for outside auditors to check that AI models work as intended. It does not say which firms signed. It gives no budget, legal basis or start date for the SIF, and no detail on the outreach. It adds that superintelligence normally means self-improving systems far beyond human ability, which today's AI is not.
WebPulse context, not from the report: an outreach unit with no stated mandate is a signal, not a rule. An audit tests a model's behaviour against a written spec, but outsiders often see only its inputs and outputs. "As intended" means little without a set standard. Ask who your contact is, what would be asked of you, and whether the pledge is voluntary.
