OpenAI brings ChatGPT Ads to 26 more countries, now 89 in total

OpenAI said more than 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns since ads launched about eight months ago.

In brief
  • OpenAI is adding 26 countries, which takes ChatGPT Ads to 89. Only Free and Go users see ads.
  • OpenAI gives no way to test its claim that ads do not shape answers. Buyers should ask how ads are matched and measured.

OpenAI said on 21 October 2026 that ChatGPT Ads now covers 26 more countries, making 89 in all. It said over 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns since ads began just over eight months ago. The additions include 14 Latin American countries, such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru. Nigeria, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia and Pakistan are also on the list. Only Free and Go users see ads. Plus, Pro and Enterprise users do not. Advertisers can buy through partners or the Ads Manager self-service tool.

In OpenAI's example, a runner asks about race-week meals and might see an ad for a grocery delivery service that fits the chat. OpenAI says ads are labeled, sit apart from answers and do not shape them. It also says it keeps conversations private from advertisers. These are the company's own claims. The announcement does not say which parts of a chat pick an ad, or how that works with conversations hidden from advertisers. It gives no prices, results or dates for the new formats and measurement it plans.

The split between ads and answers is a design promise, and this announcement gives buyers no way to test it. Before spending, ask OpenAI or your agency what chat signals match ads, how answers stay free of ad influence, what measurement exists, and how the 100,000 advertiser figure is counted.
