MediaNama reported on Meta's earnings call of October 21, 2026. Muse, Meta's AI agent, passed 10 million set-ups in the US and Canada within six weeks, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said. About 25% of users open it daily. Shopping is the top use: more than a quarter of Muse users do it, and the average purchase is over $200. Zuckerberg said Muse comes to Meta glasses in November 2026.
CFO Susan Li described the safety design. Each user's Muse runs on its own isolated cloud computer. A separate system, Sentinel, checks its actions, and only Sentinel can grant permission. Li said Muse cannot see passwords, logins or payment methods, and keeps a record of actions. Not yet known: who audits Sentinel, what the record covers, when fees on sales start, or how many people pay. Li said Meta earns nothing from Muse today beyond subscriptions.
This is our analysis. Meta treats agent permission as a design problem: one part proposes, another approves, so a wrong guess cannot act alone. That helps, but Sentinel is also Meta's system, and the record is Meta's own description. Merchants can ask how agent-led purchases will show up in their orders and fees. Security teams can ask what evidence they can inspect, not just what Meta states.
