The Hindu reported from the 10th India Mobile Congress in New Delhi on Friday, 9 October 2026. Company representatives there named the chips for three coming phones. Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 will power both the iQOO 16 and the Motorola Signature 27. Xiaomi's 18 Pro gets the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The Hindu says the phones are expected in India by the end of this year. It also says the Motorola phone will come with seven years of system upgrades and seven years of software updates. Xiaomi pointed to a display on the back of the 18 Pro.
An SoC is the single chip that holds a phone's processor, graphics and AI parts. The Hindu says both new chips claim gains in agentic AI (AI that carries out tasks for the user), camera, battery, gaming and heat control. It gives no test results and does not explain what sets the Extreme chip apart from the standard one. It gives no prices or exact launch dates. It does not say whether Motorola's software updates include security patches.
For app teams and device buyers, the chip claims are so far only the makers' own words. Motorola's seven-year figure is also a company promise, so buyers could ask Motorola to put the terms, including security patches, in writing.
