Anthropic said on 14 October that it opened an office in Singapore, its fifth in Asia-Pacific. It also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), a cooperation agreement, with the country's digital ministry. Anthropic says the MOU covers AI safety, security, model testing and research on AI adoption. In the same post, it said firms in regulated fields, such as finance, can now run Claude with in-region inference on Amazon Bedrock. Anthropic says this helps them meet strict data processing rules.
Inference is the step where a model reads a prompt and writes a reply. In-region means that step happens inside a set region. The post does not say which regions are covered. It does not say where prompts, replies or logs are kept. It gives no contract terms or dates for the Bedrock option. For the MOU, it names no deliverables, funding or deadlines.
For buyers in regulated sectors, this is a vendor claim to test, not a guarantee. Before relying on it, ask which region counts as in-region. Ask where prompts, replies and logs are stored, and what the contract says about processing. Anthropic's post does not answer these questions.
